Does anyone have any good ideas about hiding cables to speakers and how to make the television not the focal point of a room? As well as the DVD, Stereo and remote controls that get scattered around the room.

HIya Emily,
i also had the same problem in my house that firstly my kids were watching to much TV and also me and my wife were just not seeing enough of each other at night because i was goin to bed at like 11 and she was comin to bed at 2,3 a.m. because she was watchin TV so i got an interiot designer in and we have designed the room that the tv comes in and out of the wall so wen we have finished we press the remote and it slides back into the wall it is amazing.

It is very expensive to do it cost me almost £5k but it is worth the money.

keep well

depending on what type of television you have, there are several options you can do

for crt tvs, these are the bulky ones - you can have a cabinet built with full height sliding doors. hafele has several mechanisms for sliding doors that would make them virtually same as the rest of your walls.

for lcd or plasma tvs - hang them on your wall then construct a feature wall in front of them, the feature wall must be on sliding rails so you can push thme aside if you want to watch tv.

consulting an interior designer would give you more options from the practical to chic alternatives.

Yeah, I think interpro's TV is the LCD type for it to be able to slide in and out of a wall. Nice idea though. Might wanna try it out for myself, get the remote, hide the TV in the wall, and hide the remote altogether. No TV until I say so. Haha. I think I'm going to have a Marvista interior designer do the task for me. They already did my house a few years back, and I like what they did.

hey jon, i really like this idea. i am a working women and have lots of official coming and going because of me and my husband so the house really has to be in tip top condition. Also i have small kids in house and i was fearing that my precious tv would be knocked out in one of these days. i know it is expensive but will really get rid of my worries regarding tv. dont know how i can save my other things wink
